What is National Hemp Day, anyway?
National Hemp Day was founded in 2019, highlighting the many different trials and tribulations the hemp industry dealt with in the early years of the country. While hemp has been a part of human civilization in the form of medicine, textiles, clothes, and paper for thousands of years, the prohibition era made it much harder to continue innovating with hemp. After hemp farming was legalized in 2018, hemp has been used in shipping, construction, wellness, cosmetics, and even food since it offers a much lower carbon footprint and dozens of potential health and wellness benefits.
Once states were legally able to cultivate and process hemp for agricultural purposes, thousands of new jobs were created in all of these industries. After 2018, many hemp products including CBD, delta-8 THC, CBG, clothing, plastics, and biofuels have become readily available, paving the way for sustainability and a way for people to live wellness-driven lifestyles.
The Hemptender was founded by a local hemp farmer here in North Carolina.
